I saw the U2 DiscoTech concert with my daughters several years back and It reminded me of these photos you posted. Geez Louise! What caused them to pick that song for Eucharist? The chorus "But I still haven't found what I'm looking for" seems quite unappropriate. But then, considering this is an Anglican ceremony ...
Personally I view Bono as a very immature Christian with a super guilty conscious. Urban legend says he doesn't even attend a church of some sorts hardly at all. Don't get me wrong - I do believe there has been some moments of brilliance in his writings. But there was moments of brilliance in Tolstoy and AW Pink too. Personally I find a lot more maturity in the simple lyrics of many bluegrass tunes such as "There is a Reason" by Ron Block, sung by Allison Krause ...
There are so very few rock and rollers who claim to be Christians that are mature and balanced. Livgren is one who has played in both genres that comes to mind while Keaggy and Card are two others who have remained in the CC field of music.

Now there's a good song. Unfortunately, too much gravitas in it for the ECUSA. Gotta have Bono's crooning, yodeling Christianity Lite. What's more, since the Episcopalians have turned ambiguity into an art form, I'm afraid any lyrics which suggest that there may in fact "be a reason for it all" would strike them as too, well, historically Anglican.
Look at the interior of that church by the way. Beautiful. A perfectly good sanctuary shot straight to hell.
By the way, here's a link to the web site of the church whose priestess is the principal mover and shaker behind the U2 Eucharist. Click on the photos links for a bit of Star Wars Bar Scene action. And check the attire and stoles of the clergy: http://www.stgeorgesyorkharbor.org/ . (By the way, a bit of searching within the site and Googling without reveals some pretty unsurprising information about these characters Blair and Sanborn. Liturgical corruption and moral/theological corruption typically go hand in hand.)
This is really sad. Before I became Orthodox, I looked into Anglicanism. I liked the traditional BCP. Granted, it wasn't perfect in regards to catholic tradition, but U2? What's the point of having Liturgy anymore? There's no more content. No more contrition. No more theological teaching. Only catering to celebrants' whims and communicants' shallowness. It's no longer worship of God, but worship of man. And even worship of the eucharistic celebrant, since these have become focal points by facing the people and by rewriting liturgical texts.
